The Editor of Jane's “World's Aircraft” says: "We are unable to give much information of the latest German ’planes and motors, as the makers only supplied information regarding the well-known commercial types. “Whatever the truth in the stories that Germany Is building vast quantities of high speed bombers and fighters,” the article proceeds, “it must be admitted that German commercial machines and mail carriers require little modification to turn them into war machines. The whole of the German air transport is now in the hands of Lufthansa, which is under closer Government control than ever.” The writer also notes that “war machine builders are offering foreign countries new types, which may be improvements on anything used in our own country. English firms have sold abroad machines faster than those sold at home, because the former are free of Air Ministry specifications.
