AIR RACE STAGED

SPEED THRILLS AT AUSTRALIAN PAGEANT United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 19, 11.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 19. At the air pageant at Cootamundra to-day the chief event was the air race from Melbourne to Cootamundra, a distance of 286 miles, for which there were six starters, including SquadronLeader Stodart, All the competitors had reached their destination by 2.30 p.m., but the winners will not be announced until the times are officially checked. The first prize in the speed section is £l5O. The first to arrive was H. J. Broadbent, flying a D.H. Moth. He left Melbourne at 11.7 a.m. and arrived at Cootamumbra at 1.30 p.m. The remaining five arrived at brief intervals thereafter, as follows:—G. Goon, C. Butler, Squadron-Leader Stodart, K. Farmer and J. Cook.
