CONGRATULATIONS ON SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF GTANT ENTERPRISE. —The Waitaki hydro-electric works as they appear to-day, when after years of stern hat-tie the turbulent river has been harnessed to the services of mankind. It was to honour and congratulate those connected with the giant enterprise that the function held in Waimate last night was arranged. The illustration gives a panoramic view of the entire works. In the centre is the power house, on the right the workmen’s cottages and on the left workshops and other buildings. In the centre of the workshop can be seen the huge array of overhead gear, from which the current is distributed to the power lines.
