PLEASANT POINT SALE
STORE CATTLE IMPROVE The feature of yesterday's sale at Pleasant Point Saleyards was the large entry of store cattle. In other sections good entries were forwarded. Pat Cattle.— About 40 head were offered, the quality being not quite so good as of late. The market was a firm one at late values. Prices were— Pat cows (best) £5/-/- to £7/12/6; fat cows (light) £2/-/- to £3/7 6- fat heifers (best) £5/7/6 to £7/76- fat heifers (light) £2/12/6 to £3/17/6. Store Cattle.—The entry was the largest for some time, more than 100 head coming forward. The entry included some good lines of fairly wellbred young steers and heifers. Owing to the abundance of feed and the steady fat cattle market prices showed a sharp rise. Sales made were—Bulls. 20 / - to £3/ 5 -; 2-year steers, ordinary ™ to £ 3/17/6. Yearling steers, 22 6; 18 months’ steers (fair colours), £3/3/-; IB months’ heifers (fair colours) £2/11/-; 18mths heifers (B. and W.l, £2/13/6; 18 months’ steers (B. and W.), £3/-/-; 2 year shorthorn steers, £4/-/- to £5/8/-; empty heifers, £3/17/6; 2 year heifers, £2/18/-; yearling heifers, 37/6. Dairy Cattle.—A small yarding was offered, sales being—Heifers in profit £2/10/- to £3/-/-; cows in profit to £4/17/6. Pigs.—The pig sale was the best held in Pleasant Point yards for some time. Weaners and slips were nearly 5/- a head better as against the previous sale. Values were—Weaners, 13/6 to 20/-; slips to 23/-. Fat Sheep.—ln keeping with last week's Addington Sale, prices for fat sheep were easier by about 3/- a head. The quality was good but far too many sheep for butchers' requirements have been coming forward. The range was—Best woolly ewes, 17/- to 20/9; best shorn ewes, 16/- to 18/9; medium shorn ewes, 14/- to 15/4; best woolly wethers to 25/-; best shorn wethers 20/- to 22/6; medium shorn wethers, 15/10 to 17/9; spring lamb, to 21/-. Store Sheep.—The sale of store sheep was not quite so keen as of late. Some sales were—Shorn four tooth wethers, 18/-; wether hoggets in wool, 18/-; shorn two-tooth wethers 14/6 to 17/-; medium two tooth ewes to 22/6. Horses.—No good full draughts were forward, one pony, one aged draught, and one half draught being sold and made £6/-/-. £4/-/- and £l6/-/-respectively.
