THE WEATHER
Dominion Meteorologist. General situation.—A deep cyclone is still located over the central Tasman Sea, having moved southward somewhat since yesterday. There are southerly gales in Western Tasman Sea. Winds—Northerly moderate to strong. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough on the West Coast and north of East Cape, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Strong east to north-east winds in the southern and north to west in the northern portion, gale force being reached in places, seas rough with a heavy swell. Weather—Dull and misty with general rain, many heavy falls in central and southern districts, with flooding in places. Temperatures warm. Conditions in Timaru The sky was overcast on Saturday morning and although at times rain threatened, none fell. The temperature was warm during the day. but colder at night. Similar conditions were experienced yesterday, and a few spots of rain fell yesterday morning.
