TASMAN YACHT RACE

SEAFARER NOT TAKING PART By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, Auckland 18. Flying the Suva and Akarana Yacht Club’s colours, the five-ton yawlrigged yacht Seafarer arrived at Auckland from Suva to-day after a voyage of 13 days. The passage was without incident. Easterly weather was experienced for the first four days and the vessel made excellent progress, averaging 120 miles daily. The wind changed to the south and the Seafarer bore westward until 150 miles off North Cape, when easterlies again were experienced. The weather coming down the coast was thick with heavy rain. This is the second voyage the Seafarer has made to New Zealand. Although the vessel was entered for the Tasman yacht race by the Tamaki Club, the skipper, Mr G. V. Langdale. of Suva, who was accompanied by three Suva residents and a Marquesan seaman, said he was unable to compete owing to other arrangements. He intends to return to Suva in three months’ time.
