PLUNKET SOCIETY

STREET DAY PRODUCES £lO5 As a result of a successful street appeal which was conducted in town yesterday, the funds of the Plunket Society will benefit by £lO5/15/1. A large band of helpers w’as on duty in Stafford Street throughout the day, and recognising the worthiness of the cause, the public made a ready response to all reuests to buy the Rose Day badges. In addition to the collection, stalls were conducted and each reported good business. They were in charge of the following:—Christmas stall, Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite; cakes, Mesdames C. Holdgate and J. Wilson; produce, Mesdames F. F. A. Ulrich, R. T. Turnbull, M. A. Raymond, F. G. M. Raymond,; flowers, Mesdames A. Wigley and D. B. Shand; organiser, Mrs L. M. Inglis; treasurer, Mrs A. B. Herdman. The following acted as collectors:— Mesdames Millar, Leslie, Findlay, Wood, Virtue, Misses Graham, McCallum, Haselden, J. Holdgate, N. Hogg, Macfarlane, Duncan, Macdonald, Sandrey, Kerr, McKay, Rule, Mangos, Holdgate, Horwell, Murchison, Clarke, Shirteliff and Pearson. The Society acknowledges donations from Mrs J. Gilmore, Messrs H. Jenkins, J. Fraser, Adams, E. Porter, Three Star Fruit Shop, Woolworths, Everybodys, Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, Caroline Dairy Company, Pareora, Springbrook and St. Andrews. The winner of the dressed doll was Shirley Leslie, while Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite won the competition in which the prize was silk stockings.
