SOUTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the Management Committee was held last evening. Present— Messrs A. E. Lawrence (chairman), F. S. Cave, A. E. Fawcett, D. Murchison, W. Tubb, G. Powell, E. G. Wilson, G. J. Walker, A. H. Hobbs, W. W. Grant. V. B. McKeague and M. J. Angland (hon. secretary). The chairman mentioned that he desired to correct a published statement that had been made in Geral'dine, that the Temuka Club had introduced the question of the desirability of an amalgamation between the Geraldine and Temuka Clubs. Such a statement was incorrect. The suggestion had come from several members of the Management Committee other than the representatives of the clubs concerned, who considered amalgamation would be a desirable move. The question was not raised by the representative of the Temuka Club. Mr Walker stated that the Temuka Club had asked him to draw attention to the report of remarks that had been made at Geraldine regarding the suggested amalgamation of the teams of the Temuka and Geraldine Clubs. He stated that the suggestion for an amalgamation had not come from the Temuka Club, but as the Geraldine Club was apparently not prepared to discuss the matter, nothing further could be done by his club in the meantime. A letter was received from Mr W. Thomas, accepting election as a vicepresident of the Association. Mr J. Marriott wrote advising his acceptance as a member of the first grade selection committee. The United Friendly Societies Picnic Committee wrote asking the Association to postpone matches on the date of their annual picnic.—lt was decided to accede to the request. Mr P. D, Mansell wrote thanking the Association for re-electing him the Association’ delegate to the New Zealand Cricket Council. A letter from the Kia Ora Cricket Club (Christchurch) asking that a match be arranged for December 26 and 27, was referred to the clubs. Mr Murchison, on behalf of the Grounds Committee, tendered a comprehensive report on all grounds and on temporary arrangements entered into for the preparation of the grounds. On the motion of Messrs Grant and Cave, the Grounds Committee’s report was adopted, and Mr Murchison was thanked for the excellent work he had carried out. All applications for the use of various grounds as home grounds were referred to the Finance Committee for a report. Correspondence was received from clubs regarding the rebate on art union tickets sold. It was decided, on the motion of Messrs Murchison and Tubb, that the clubs applying for a rebate be paid and that the clubs making their share of the proceeds a donation, be written to thanking them for their support. It was decided that a conference be called for November 15 of all country clubs. FRIENDLY GAMES The following is the draw for the Friendly Games to be played at Fraser Park on Saturday: No. 1 ground, Bruces v. Rovers: Milling Co. v. Cambridge; No. 2 ground, Police and Court v.
