The tenure of command of lieuten-ant-colonels, appointed from January next to the cavalry and infantry, will be limited to three years, after which, if they have not been promoted, or given further employment, they will be transferred to a special list, and granted one year’s leave. Lieutenantcolonels of 26 years’ service, for which no command can be found, will be granted a year's leave, after which they will be placed on the retired list, with a pension of a minimum of £7OO per annum.
