OVERDUE RATES
REMISSION OF PENALTY. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, July 25. Mr A. S. Richards (Lab. Roskill) asked the Minister of Internal Affairs in the House of Representatives today, whether he would introduce legislation to give power to local authorities to remit the 10 per cent, penalty on overdue rates. The Hon. J. A. Bitchener, on behalf of the Hon. J. A. Young, said that the Government intended to bring down legislation in the present session authorising local authorities to grant concessions on the same conditions as formerly in regard to overdue rates.
