THE WEATHER
Dominion Meteorologist. General situation.—An anti-cyclone of very slight intensity now covers New Zealand, while a trough of low pressure lies in a north to south direction across the Tasman Sea. Winds.—West to south-west predominating at first, gradually tending northerly and becoming strong. Seas (New Zealand waters). —Rather rough on the West Coast and about Foveaux Strait, considerable southerly swell at first also on the east coast of the South Island, otherwise moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea. —Winds tending northerly and becoming strong seas rather rough. Weather.—Some showers about Foveaux Strait, otherwise fair to fine a* first, rain developing later in western and far northern districts and becoming more general after about 24 hours; temperatures milder. Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind.—Variable, light to moderate northerly ruling. Weather.—Fine and becoming milder. Conditions in Timaru. Timaru during the last few days has enjoyed settled weather and conditions for this time of the year could hardly be bettered. Yesterday morning there was a frost of 8.2 degrees.
