CANNING INDUSTRY
PROTECTIVE TARIFF DESIRED. By Telegraph —Press Association WELLINGTON, July 25. Representations on behalf of jam and marmalade manufacturers, the canned fruit industry, and fruitgrowers were placed before the Minister of Customs (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) today when requests were made for greater protection to New Zealand industries than is afforded by the new tariff schedule. The Minister promised to consider the request.
