“NO ONE TO BLAME”
INQUEST ON AIR FORCE OFFICER United Pre« Association—By Electric Telegraph - -CoDVTlgtat LONDON. July 23. A verdict of accidental death was returned by the Jury at the Inquest on Squadron-Leader S. P. Collett, a son of the Lord Mayor of London, who was burned to death at the Royal Air Force Pageant at Hendon on June 30. Squadron-Leader Collett was trapped In a Hawker-Hart day bomber, which nose-dived Into the ground when the pilot, Flying-Officer R. F. Lea, swerved to avoid the spectators. The jury said that no one was to blame and that they were perfectly satisfied with the competence of the pilot. An Air Ministry official suggested that the pilot accidentally shut off the petrol cock with his knee. Precautions are to be taken to prevent a recurrence of such accidents.
