HAUL OF SILVER

WELLINGTON BURGLARY. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, June 25. The residence of Mr Gibson Stott, Hobson Street, was entered between midnight and 1 o’clock on Sunday morning, and a quantity of silver, W'hich the thieves wrapped in the hall rug, was stolen. Two maids and two children were asleep in the house. The stolen goods w r ere mostly cups Mr Stott won at school, and also a large clock. The thieves were prob-bly disturbed, as other silver articles were untouched. Entry was appa ently gained by the dining-room door, which was accidentally left unlocked. The thieves must have watched the house till the light were extinguished at 11.45, by a maid, who, finding the window of the washhouse open before she retired, made a hurried search of the house, but failed to try the diningroom door.
