WOMEN CRICKETERS FOR AUSTRALIA. LONDON, June 16, The team of English women cricketers which will visit Australia at the end of the year will consist of girls w'ith more than an average sprinkling of beauty. They will be a well-balanced side in more senses than one. and should be one of the most popular teams that ever visited Australia. E. Archdale, the captain, is a solicitor, and a strong, forcing batsman. She makes a century every season, and is a good slipfield and reserve wicketkeeper. S. Snowball, a games mistress, is the Oldfield of the women ’keepers, and a stylish opening bat. H. E. Green is a games mistress and a capable actress of the Ruth Draper type, a beautiful field near the wicket. M, S. Burletson is studying to be a games mistress, and is an all rounder. M. Hide, a University student, is the finest all-rounder in England. She scored 51 the other day in 20 minutes, and took half the wickets. She throws in like a man. M. Maclagen is of independent means. The team’s Woodfull, she is practically unbowlable. She is also a fine squash player. G. A. Morgan, a civil servant, and another reserve wicketkeeper. A careful bat. J. E. Partridge, games mistress, a fine slipfield and a good bat. M. F. Spear is studying to be a games mistress. She is a good length bowler M. E. Richards, a games mistress, is a good bat. a slow bowler, and an excellent field. C. Valentine, of independent means, is sister of the captain of the Kent county team. She does not share her brother's batting talent, but is a fastmedium bowler. Of small build, she is a good lacross player. M. Childs, a games mistress, is a strong forcing No. 4 bat, and a wicket- ' D* 5 M. Turner, a clerk, is a fast-me-dium bowler and a fair bat. M I. Taylor, a clerk. Is the Larwood of the team. She takes a long run and bowls at express speed for four overs. J. Liebert is an art student, and an all-rounder.
