A SHOPPING IDEA

Something absolutely new in women’s shopping ideas will shortly be introduced into the West End of London, says a woman writer. It will be possible for women, undecided in the selection of their finery—as women are all the world over—to be photographed wearing a choice of the jewellery, dresses or fur coats that they may wish to purchase. They can then, in the quiet of their homes, study the pictures and make a selection. The new idea was started by a smart jeweller. Tired of women spending hours trying on this piece and that, he had one customer photographed so that she could study the effect at home. So successful was the notion that he has adopted it as a general practice. Now several leading departmental stores, it is stated, have taken up this new system. Leading furriers, dressmakers and even milliners are interested in its possibilities, and will assist customers in this way. “I think it Is a splendid idea,” one milliner said. “By this new method one can pass pnotographs round for criticism before instead of after. For women buying several hats for a trousseau, for instance, it will be invaluable. She will show the photographs to her friends, too, and that will bring us trade. We shall even tint the pictures to the colours desired.”
