SCIENCE ATTACKS • COLDS New Discovery that Kills Germs It is now known that the “ common cold ” —like its big brothers, Influenza and Catarrh —is caused by germs. You come into contact with a sufferer—germs enter your system through the breathing passages —the warm, moist conditions of the nose, throat and lungs provide ideal breeding grounds—the germs multiply rapidly—and you have “ caught a cold.” Obviously, then, the way to cure a cold is to kill the germs that cause the cold. Those are the lines along which chemists have been working for many years past. They have been striving to evolve an inhalant that is sufficiently powerful to destroy the germs and yet can be used with safety by adults or children. At last they have been successful. They have produced Karsote Inhalant. The actual germ-killing effect of Karsote on cold, influenza, and Catarrh-causing germs is shown in magnified diagram below.
