SHIPPING AND MARKETING OF PRODUCE WELLINGTON, May 21. The Dairy Industry Commission today entered upon the third week of its deliberations. The morning was occupied with hearing the evidence of Mr Charles Mitchell Howard, shippingmanager for Johnston and Co. Ltd., who dealt with the subject of trade with the East, with special reference to the Dutch East Indies. In the afternoon evidence was given by Mr N. O. Falla, joint manager of the Union Steam Ship Co. and Consul at Wellington for Japan, who outlined the shipping facilities to the East and spoke on the possibilities of building up trade with Japan. Mr Falla also detailed the present shipping facilities and modes of transhipment. Witnesses who will appear to-morrow are Messrs C. H. Andrews, of J. B. Macewan and Co. Ltd., G. A. Mills, agent for A. J. Mills and Co. Ltd., London, J. Lloyd, of Joseph Nathan and Company Limited, W. H. Kent, representative of Andrew Clement and Sons, Limited, London, and G. Davidson, of the New Zealand Producers’ Co-opera-tive Marketing Association. These witnesses will deal with local and export marketing.
