ORARI BRIDGE

FANCY DRESS BALL. The fancy dress ball in aid of the funds of the Orari Bridge School and Women’s Division proved a most successful function. The fancy dresses were judged by Mrs Wyn Davidson and the prizes awarded as follows: Children, best pair. Bride and Bridegroom, Joy Tagg and Brian Markham; most original couple, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, John and Colin Coulter; prettiest costume worn by girl, Grey McEvey, Pierette; funniest costume, worn by boy. Pat Markham, Black Sambo; cheapest costume, girls, Mary Scott. “Use More Flour”; cheapest costume, boyi:, •Robin Bruce, “Use More Flour”; special prizes were awarded by Mrs Davidson to “The Three Bears’ (Grace Coulter, Alan Coulter, and Don Coulter); “Little Red Riding Hood” (Coleen Coulter). Adult awards were—Most original, Messrs G. Pratt and James South, “Scarecrows”; prettiest costumes, Misses Doris McEvey and Alice Yates,

“Powder and Patches”; special prize, Miss Clarice Rule, “School Boy.”

Music for the children’s dancing was supplied by Mesdames Scott, Quigley, Charles and Mr Kennedy. A guessing competition for a cake (which was made by Mrs F. E. South, iced by Mrs R. Tagg. and the ingredients supplied by Mesdames South and Pratt) was won by Miss E. Patrick.

The takings amounted to more than £l7, which will leave a substantial credit balance. A bran tub under the supervision of Mrs Johnston did good business.

Mrs Davidson was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
