MOST FAMOUS SAILOR
NEVER WENT TO SEA. There was a man in England twenty years ago who was the greatest sailor in the world. He never went to sea. He beckoned to one from posters until he could smell the reawood, see the waves —and just had to go to Skegness. Since that poster flared from every hoarding, “Skegness is so bracing" was known to everyone. And the sailor who was no sailor, lives in Skegness and drives a landau. His name is Sam Moody. He was the first newsboys in Skegness, has been for 27 years on the board of guardians, >s chairman of the Skegness Lifeboat Committee, has been a Sunday school superintendent for 25 years, and a local preacher for 50 years. The creator of the poster, Mr John Hassall is soon to be presented with a silver replica of his creation.
