ORARI
EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. At the euchre tournament held by the Orari School Committee on Friday evening, 21 tables were occupied. The prizes, given by Mrs T. Pierce and Mr W. G. Bolitho, were won by Miss D. Williams and Mrs E. Lyons, Messrs H. A. Brenton (Belfield), and C. Brenton (Hilton). The chairman, Mr J. Dwyer, expressed the committee’s appreciation of the splendid support that had been accorded the first effort of the new committee, and also thanked the donors of the prizes for their generosity. DOMAIN BOARD. The Orari Domain Board wiM present a report on its work at the public meeting of residents to be held in the hall to-morrow evening. PUBLIC LIBRARY. The provisional committee of the Orari Public Library hopes to have a cupboard installed in the hall very soon ,and when it is completed the library will be open to subscribers. At present members of the committee are busy on a book drive round the district and already more than 200 books are in hand. The collection of books is not yet completed, but the committee desires to acknowledge the receipt of donations from Mesdames G. Stewart (Greenmeadows), Ellery (Belfield), and books from Mesdames G. I. Hamilton, R. M. Innes, C. H. E. Gerard, G. Worner, G. Hawkins, Birdling senr., G. Birdling, J. A. Henderson. W. Watson. W. J. Johnston, L. Greenaway, W. E. Cook, F. Taverner, G. Borrell, H. A. Brenton, J. Burke, L. Borrell, D. Bennett, Titheridge, W. Smith, Dore (Timaru), A. Rysdale. Misses G. Brown, M. Carter, Mr D. Brown and Canon Coursey (Geraldine), Mr S. R. Muff, Rev. J. R. Reid. The secretary, Miss G. Brown, reports that already 33 residents have signified their intention of becoming subscribers.
