WINCHESTER
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. At the monthly meeting of the Winchester Women’s Institute, Mrs G. Burborough presided over a large attendance of members and friends. Six new members were elected. Mrs Taylor of Temuka gave a comprehensive report on the half-yearly meeting of the Federation. Miss G. Brown gave a very interesting and instructive address on “Topics of the Day.” Miss M. Ferguson also gave an instructive address on matters pertaining to the welfare of the Women's Institute. All three speakers were accorded a vote of thanks. A competition for the best jar of jam was won by Mrs J. C. South 1, Mrs G. Burborough 2. Mrs J. S. Smith 3. A competition, “best flower bloom,” was won by Mrs J. C. South, with Miss K. Sauer, second. Members were requested to support the arts and crafts exhibition to be held in June. The hostesses were Mrs J. S. Smith and Miss K. Sauer. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs W. E. Knight who have been on a holiday visit to Auckland, have returned to Winchester. Miss P. Deßenzy. Winchester, has left for Christchurch. Miss K. Brazier, who has been the guest of Mrs J. Deßenzy, has returned to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs L. H. Orbell and Miss Buckland. Winchester, have returned from a visit to Christchurch.
