The man whose charred body was found at Balwyn under a wooden culvert has been identified as Rocco Petulla, aged 30. an Italian labourer. The police believe that Petulla was choked during a quarrel and that afterwards his body was taken from Richmond to Balwyn. where it was burned. YOUNG ITALIANS CHARGED HEARING OF CASE ADJOURNED United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copy r’ght (Received May 20, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE. May 20. Two young Italians, Antonio Chiods (20) and Antonis Audina (19), who are charged with the murder of Rocco Petulla, were remanded until May 25. A cable from Melbourne on Friday night said: Detectives are unable to make any progress with the identification of the victim whose charred body was discovered in a wooden culvert at Balwyn. Fingerprints obtained from th£ charred hand afforded no assistance. Apparently the victim .was not convicted at any period of his career.
