AN ARDENT CYCLIST
PRINCESS’S NEW THRILL Princess Elizabeth, who for two years has been an ardent bicyclist, has discovered a new thrill, states a London writer. On the back of the bicycle which was a birthday present from the British cycle trade, she has had a lug-gage-carrier fixed, and every day she takes her little sister, Princess Margaret Rose, an exciting ride on the pillion. The Princess, who was eight years old on April 21, is not yet allowed to go out on the roads, but the gravel paths of Royal Lodge, her parents' home in Windsor Great Park, make an ideal track for her. She is a cyclist of considerable skill, and is very proud of showing her ability to ride without touching the handlebars, often to the alarm of the Duchess of York, as she watches her daughter negotiating perilous corners and steep slopes with equal ease. When lessons with her governess are finished for the day, the Princess mounts her machine, and, with Princess Margaret Rose clinging tightly to her waist, pedals happily away to her own little house in the grounds, the miniature cottage given her by the people of Wales.
