S.C. AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION HEADLIGHT TESTING The committee of the South Canterbury Automobile Association met last night. Present: Messrs J. M. Jenkins (chairman), F. Chittock, Robt. Wilson. F. S. Shrimpton, S. G. McCleland, G. A. Bridges and Dr C. A. Paterson!* Advice was received from the railways department that it agreed to the Association testing headlights on its property opposite the Railway Station, providing that no interference was caused to the travelling public and no damage was done to the Department’s property. The chairman said that with the patrolman he had inspected the area and had found that it was very suitable for the purpose. It was agreed that a letter of thanks be sent to the Department. Waimakarari Crossing. Replying to a complaint by a South Canterbury Association member concerning treatment received at the Waimakarari crossing, the Canterbury Association advised that the matter had been taken up with the Highways Board. The absence of i bridge was a serious drawback to road communi■cation between East and West. ' The secretary (Mr E. A. He had towed 27 through and! all members appreciated the service. He had completed the light test a* the railway.station and he would be testing on May 18 and at Temuka on Saturday.
