“ROUND THE CORNER”
WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association WAIROA, April 12. A very satisfactory financial position was disclosed at the last meeting of the Wairoa County Council compared with that of last year, when the Government alleged that the council had not met its due interest payments and threatened to put in a receiver. The position shows that Wairoa is really round the corner. The cash balance at the end of the year, stated Mr A. G. Nolan, the chairman, was £3OOO better than last year. The total rate collection was £21,670, again £11,990 last year. Arrears in rates this year were £2482, against £7175 in 1933.
