NOTES.

An analysis of road accidents in Hamburg for a test week shows that pedestrians caused more accidents than motorists. Bicycles were also responsible for more accidents than cars. The fines imposed totalled nearly £I7OO for the seven days, the rate being 3s. for a motoring offence, 2s. for a cyclist at fault, and Is. for a misdemeanour by a pedestrian.

It is considered that German motorcar manufacturers have almost completely recovered from the set-back suffered owing to the economic depression of the past few years. According to estimates, total sales for the whole of 1933 amounted to some 81,500 passenger cars and 11,400 commercial vehicles —or an increase on last year of 100 per cent, for the former and over 60 per cent, for the latter.
