TRAIN TO ASSIST AVIATORS
A moving finger of light pointing skyward will fly through the night from the cab of the Union Pacific system's new train in the United States, serving as a warning to motorists approaching a crossing and also as an aid to aviators who follow the railway. The new streamline train, nearing completion in the Pullman shops, will have a dual headlight of great strength, its horizontal beam being of the conventional type, its vertical beam being an innovation. Strong enough to penetrate fog, dust, and snow, the beams will throw light for great distances, it is said, so that long before a motorist approaches the crossing he should see a warning in the sky. The dual headlight is but one of a score of new safety devices that will make this new train the most advanced, from the safety standpoint, of any ever constructed, it is said.
