A POPULAR FLOWER.
Carnations are in the news just now, and are probably the most popular flowers of the moment. During the Princess Royal’s recent convalescence from her operation for appendicitis she received every morning a large box filled with freshly-cut pink carnations, sent her by the Queen. The “brand” most favoured by the ultra-smart is Laddie, a bright pink carnation almost as iarge as a malmaison, which has the virtue of lasting well. Altogether at least six varieties of pink carnation are in vogue either for wearing or decoration. Among them are Mrs Ward and Canadian Pink. The fashion of wearing real cut flowers has been revived by wedding guests and in the evenings, if a woman cannot fasten a “real” shoulder spray to her gown she wears it on her cloak.
