There is a definite improvement in the bookings for the Christmas holiday period this year in the interisland ferry services. For several weeks past bookings have been steadily made, and although it is nearly a fortnight off Christmas several ships have already been booked right out. This occurs every year on the peak nights just before Christmas, but this year the bookings are far heavier over a more extended period than they have been for several years past. The election for the producers representative on the New Zealand Honey Board was held yesterday, the votes being recorded by means of a postal ballot. Percival Augustus Hillary, of Tuakau, Auckland, the sitting member was re-elected with 75 votes, the only other candidate being W*n. Bavly Bray, of Leeston, Canterbury. 59 votes.
