EFFECT OF BRITISH TARIFF
INCREASED REVENUE IN INDUSTRIES British Official Wireless RUGBY, December 10. An increase of £33.500,000 upon the preceding year occurred in Britain’s revenue from customs and excise during the twelve months ended last March. The bulk of this increase occurred through the operations of the Import Duties Act, the Irish Free State Special Duties Act, and the Ottawa Agreements Act. These three sets of tarifT duties produced an increase in revenue of £25.200,000. Industrial Revenue. Further improvement in British heavy Industries is shown in the trade figures. Furnaces in blast have increased from 60 to 77. The production of pig iron last January amounted to 236,000 tons, and increased to 373,000 during October. Steel output increased from 444.000 tons in January to 668.000 tons in October.
