The special Inter-Departmental Alcohol Committee recommends Congress to impose a tax of 260 cents a gallon on distlllc. spirits, compared with the present 110 cents; on still wines of less than 14 per cent alcoholic content. 16 cent. 1 at present four; on wines from 14 to 34 per cent alcohol. 40 cents and on all wines, including brandy, above 24 per cent. 260 cents, ho same as distilled .spirits. Sparkling wines of less than 24 per •ent alcohol will be 80 cents, and vrr 24 per cent •.'►') cent Artificial -parkling wines, under 24 per cent, will be 40 cents a gallon
