WHEAT PROBLEMS
AMERICA PROPOSES HIGH DUTY. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, December 8. Increased duties on wheat and flour are under consideration by the Chinese Government, according to information received by the State Department to-day. No action leading to protest is expected until the Chinese make a definite move. At present there is no duty on wheat into China, but under the proposals the duty would be approximately 50 cents a picul, and instead of the present rate of 10 cents a picul on flour the new tariff would be a dollar.
