WOODBURY
LEGION CONCERT. A very delightful entertainment was held in Woodbury on Thursday last. The Hall was well filled with an appreciative audience. The concert given under the auspices of the Woodbury centre of the New Zealand Legion commenced with a play, “A Romance in a Laundry,” admirably presented by the Orari Readers under the leadership of W. Cook, continuing with songs by Mrs. H. B. Naylor, Dr. W. R. Fea and Mr. J. Woodhead. Instrumental items were given by Mrs. G. A. Martin pianoforte) and Miss Florence Munro, (violin). Humorous songs and items were presented by Mr. H. B. Naylor and character sketches by Mr. F. Newmarch who later gave a display of conjuring with a pack of cards. Dr. Fea thanked the large audience for their attendance and expressed the pleasure of the performers at being there. He continued with a few words as to the aims of the Legion and an appeal to all patriotic citizens to join the movement. Mr. P. M. McKenzie supplemented Dr. Fea’s remarks 'ey inviting any interested persons to attend the meetings held on Woodbury fortnightly. The evening concluded with a few dances, the music for which was provided by Miss Woodhead.
