KNIFE WOUND IN LEG
EARLY MORNING AFFRAY. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. December 10. A knife wound in a leg was received by Mrs Betty Churton, who lives with her mother in Hutcheson Street, Sydenham. in an affray outside her home early this morning. Subsequently her husband, Alexander James Churton, a motor mechanic, was arrested and charged with assault so as to cause actual bodily harm. Both Churton and his wife had to receive treatment at the hospital, the former suffering from cuts to two fin^rs. It is alleged that Mrs Churton was accosted by her husband, with whom she has not been living, when she returned to her home at 1 am, and that a knife was used by Churton, In the altercation that ensued. In the Magistrate's Court last Thursday, Churton was charged with breaking three windows in his mother-in-law s house. It was alleged that he had thrown stones through the windows at night. Churton dented any knowledge ol the stone-throwing and the Magistrate dismissed the case, remarking at the same time that there was evidently a good deal of feelmg between the parties.
