Dr J. Campbell Begg passed through Timaru on his way south on Saturday. A cable message from Sydney announces that Alderman A. L. Parker, has been elected Lord Mayor of Sydney in succession to Alderman Hagon. The Rev. A. K. Warren, M.A. fOxon >. At the end of the year banquet held at the Rectory at the Boys’ High School on Friday night, opportunity was taken to make a presentation of a set of fruit spoons and forks to Mr A. Simmers, on the eve of his approaching marriage. The presentation was made by R. Burnett on behalf of the Rectory boys, the speaker wishing Mr Simmers every success and happiness in the future.
