Early this afternoon Mrs Manuleta Swales, residing at Mason's Avenue, Herne Bay, was found unconscious on the porch at the head of the steps ;.t the back of her home, bleeding from a wound in the chest, which is believed to have been caused by a bullet from a repeating rifle which was found on the floor of a back bedroom, about 20 feet away. The woman was found by her sister-in-law, Mrs C. Murray, who resides in the same house. It is understood that no one was in the house when the incident occurred, Mrs Murray having gone to a neighbour's house to use the telephone.
