WEATHER FOR OCTOBER. During October. 238 points of rain were reported on 10 days. The heaviest fall was 66 points on the 15th. The average fall for October for 9 years is 217 points. The total rainfall for the year to date is 18.52 inches. For the same period last year it was 25.93 inches. The maximum shade temperature was 82 degrees on the 6th (last year 78), absolute minimum 32 on the 21st (34), average of maxima 68.3 (63.5), average om minima 39.9 (43.7), mean 54.1 (53.3). The heaviest day’s rainfall since the records were begun in June, 1925, was recorded at 9 a.m. on Monday, when the gauge showed 381 points. The previous highest day's rainfall had been 340 points on May 10. 1932. Since the rain commenced at 4 p.m. on Saturday, 430 points have been recorded.
Dr. and Mrs Loughnan. who visited Oamaru for the Redcastle sports and were the guests of Col. and Mrs Nichol, Keruheka, have returned to Fairlie.
