BAROSCOPE AGAIN By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 6. An improvement in the weather resulted in a better attendance on the final day of the Auckland Racing Club's spring meeting. Fairly heavy rain fell before the first race, but the weather then moderated, although there were occasional light showers during the afternoon. The totalisator turnover was £17,141 compared with £20,939 for the corresponding day last year, a decrease of £3798. The total for the meeting was £33,583, compared with £46,848/10/- last year, a decrease of £13,262/10/-. Results:— NORMANBY HANDICAP. Of 200 sovs; 1 mile. 3/3—Tavern Knight, 8.0, car 8.01 (E. Mansom 1 8/6—Holly Lu, 8.5 (J. F. Fergus) .. 2 5/s—Jewelled Girdle, 7.0, car. 7.1 (L. Clifford) 3 Also started—9/7 Gay Broney 8.2, 10/8 Hawthorn 8.0, 11/10 Count Lendroff 7.11, 2/2 Star Artist 7.9, 1 1 Good Run 7.8, 4,3 Don’t Lap 7.5, 7/11 Caliente 7.0, 6/8 Supreme Ruler 7.0. Holly Lu, Supreme Ruler and Star Artist were first to show out, while Tavern Knight and Good Run appeared to be squeezed back. At the halfmile post Supreme Ruler and Star Artist were together, followed by Count Lendroff, Jewelled Girdle, Holly Lu, and Tavern Knight. A furlong from home Jewelled Girdle, Star Artist, Holly Lu and Good Run were disputing the lead. Tavern Knight finished best, three-quarters of a length ahead of Holly Lu, who beat Jewelled Girdle by a neck. Good Run was fourth. Time—lmin 46 2-ssec.

MANUKAU HURDLES. Of 300 sovs; 2 miles.

4/4 —Carlaris, 9.4 (C. Thompson) .. 1 1/2—Wee Pat, 9.11 (J. H. Mcßae) .. 2 2/1 —Free Air, 10.8 (R. E. Thomson) 3 Also started—s/5 Cruachan 11.3, 3/3 Billy Boy 11.9, 6/6 Coachman 9.0. Wee Pat led over the first fence from Cruachan, Billy Boy and Carlaris. There was little between Carlaris and Wee Pat at the last fence, and in an exciting finish Carlaris prevailed by a head, with Free Air five lengths back. Billy Boy was fourth. Time—4min 3sec. Carlaris finished with the saddle right back on his flanks and his rider had difficulty in keeping him going over the last piece. EPSOM HANDICAP. Of 250 sovs; 6 furlongs. 2/2—Exaggeration, 7.3 (H. N. Wiggins) 1 5/6 —British Columbia, 7.6 (S. Tremain) 2 1/I—Puss Moth, 8.12 (H. Pomp and Porotiti were first away, but Puss Moth soon ran to the front and led British Columbia, King's Archer, Pomp and Exaggeration. At the distance. Exaggeration came away fast to win by 3i lengths from British Columbia, who was a neck in front of Puss Moth. Time—lmin 18sec. KING EDWARD MEMORIAL HANDICAP. Of 500 sovs; 14 miles. 4/4—Baroscope, 8.5 (E. Manson) .. 1 2/2—Lord Val, 8.2 (H. N. Wiggins) 2 9/9—Alloy, car. 7.6 (N. L’Allegro was first away from All Humbug, Baroscope, Prince Val and View Halloo. Nearing the turn View Halloo made a fast run on the outside. The field bunched in the straight, and in a great race home Baroscope won by three-quarters of a length from Lord Val, who was a length ahead of Alloy. View Halloo was fourth. Time — 2min ssec. ONEHUNGA STEEPLECHASE. Of 200 sovs; about 3 miles. 4/6—Patutahi, 9.13 (D. J. Burgess) 1 3/4—Kairuri, 9.9 (J. Preston) .. ..2 1/I—Valpeen. 11.2 (F. Thompson) .. 3 Also started —7/7 Neil 11.10, 2/3 Riotout 10.13. 6/5 Kawini 10.10, 8/8 Creina s King 9.11. 5/2 Zane Grey 9.11, 9/9 Domo 9.0. Zane Grey led early from Riotous, Patutahi, Kairuri, Creina’s King and Valpeen. Grant’s Opal fell at the fence near the mile post, and Zane Grey fell when second to Patutahi at the stonewall near the straight. Patutahi won easily by four lengths from Kairuri, who beat Valpeen by threequarters of length. Riotous was fourth. Tim£—6min 23sec. MUSKET STAKES.
