UNDER THE INFLUENCE
TEMUKA MOTORIST FINED £ls. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, October 21. Four drinks on an empty stomach cost Thomas George Aston, mechanical engineer, of Temuka (43), £ls and suspension of his driver's license for three months, when he pleaded guilty in the Police Court this morning to being intoxicated in charge of a motor car. Sub-inspector Edwards said that at 5.45 p.m. yesterday the police received a complaint from a business man in Worcester Street that his car had been run into by another car. In complainant's opinion its driver was under the influence of liquor. A constable gave evidence to seeing the accused, who was under the influence of liquor. For the defence it was stated that Aston had no breakfast or lunch that day, and four drinks had affected his judgment.
