THE GOLF CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The anneal general meeting of the Waimate Golf Club was held on Thursday, Mr S. I. Fitch presiding. In moving the adoption of • the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr Fitch said a very satisfactory financial position was disclosed, the credit balance being increased from £134 to £IBO. Mr J. A. Lash seconded the motion, and in answer to his question, was informed that only two members' subscriptions were outstanding. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr C. G. Holmes: vicepresidents, Messrs D. S. Chisholm and W. P. Black; club captain, Mr D. S. Chisholm: secretary and treasurer. Mr T. A. Wilson; general committee, Messrs J. C. Templer, W. P. Black, d’A. S. Grut, J. W. Tennant and S. I. Fitch; auditor, Mr T. E. Parry; handicappers, Messrs J. C. Templer, D. S. Chisholm and T. A. Wilson; ground committee, Messrs Templer, Black, Parry, Wilson, Chisholm and J. J. Healey. The subscription was fixed the same as last year, and the matter of the ladies’ club’s contribution was left to the committee. The secretary, Mr Wilson, was voted an honorarium of £5/5/-, and a free subscription for the work carried out during the last year. The question of a raised ridge ound the edge of holes was discussed, and the matter was referred to the committee to look into. Mr Grut contended that the rules should be amended so that a player whose ball was in the cut drain in the water should be able to move it without penalty. The meeting considered it was a question to be considered by the committee to whom it was referred. Recommendations were carried that the outerboards line for No. 2 hole should be more clearly defined, that a ball within striking distance of a single tree enclosure be allowed to be moved without penalty. The continuance of the match competition was approved, the competition to be of five rounds, and those forfeiting without the consent of the match committee to be eliminated. The handicap committee was appointed the match committee. Mr Sawell suggested the institution of a four-ball knock-out, players to play on the handicap as it stood on the occasion of each match.—The suggestion was approved. M L. A. Holden proposed a ringer competition for the coming season, a~d this was agreed to. On the suggestion of Mr Sawell it wes decided to institute weekly summer competitions, any player to have the right to put in any number of cards at a cost of 6d each. Votes of thanks were passed to the Ladies’ Club, the retiring president, and other officers, the auditor, and the Press. Official Closing of Season. The club officially closed its 1932-33 season on Thursday afternoon with a mixed foursome. The prize-winners were Miss O. Collins and J. J. Healey with a net score of 71. Following afternoon tea, the prizes for the Women’s Club season were presented by the president (Mrs Hertslet) as follows:—Senior championship, Mrs Templer; junior championship, Mrs McLean; L.G.U. Silver medal, Miss R. Hertslet; Mary Fitch Cup, Miss R. Hertslet; L.G.U. bronze medal, Mrs Chisholm; ringer competition, Mrs A. Grant; knock-out handicap, Mrs A. Grant; flag match, Miss H. Cameron; eclectic competition, Mrs P. Grant; all day medal round, Mrs P. Grant; third-grade championship, Mrs P. Grant; third grade ringer, Miss O. Cameron; third grade knock-out handicap, Miss N. Hay. CRICKET.' The following will represent the Waimate Cricket Club to play Celtic (Tlmaru) at Victoria Park to-day: W. Miller, R. Miller, A. Guy, R. Stevens, C. Dacre, D. Samways, T. Stevens, D. Studholme, Verity, E. Wilson, J. Brown. THE WEATHER. A heavy north-west wind sprang up in Wair.ate yesterday, but shortly before 10 am. it veered round to the south-west, and rain fell at intervals throughout the day. TULIP SHOW. The annual tulip show under the auspices of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, will be held in the Waimate Methodist Hall to-day. Extra competition will be in evidence this year in the form of an attractive entry list from a Dunedin enthusiast.
