CRAIGHEAD DIOCESAN SCHOOL

SPORTS POSTPONED. The pupils of Craighead Diocesan School seem to be fated to have unpleasant weather for their annual sports. For four years in succession they have had to contend with wee and boisterous weather, and yesterday afternoon, when they were to ha\e been held, proved no exception, as rain began to fall about 2 o'clock and all events had to be postponed. However, a very excellent entertainment was given in the gymnasium by the pupils under Miss Clifton-Mogg. the sports mistress. Figure marching, Greek dances, gymnastic work, folk dances (by preparatory, junior anil senior pupils) and sc'.ad drill by Te Hauauru House, were given witn smartness and precision and made the visitors quite forget the very unpleasant conditions outside. At the end of the programme afternoon tea was served in the dining-hall, the tables being decorated with lilac and wattle. The guests then visited the classrooms to view a display of sewing, painting and drawing. Many of the drawings showed decided talent. In one corner of the room a display cf beautiful silver sports cups which were to have been given during the afternoon, was arranged. To give an idea of the. excellent training received by the girls, the visitors w T ere shown a room which had been papered, upholstered and decorated by the pupils. Tne pictures on the wails had been painted by them, and the whole room showed great taste even to the very artistic yellow electric light shade.
