INTEREST IN ENGLISH PRESS IMPENETRABLE FRONTIER PROPOSED United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph —Copyright (Received October 20, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 2a “The Daily Mail” ta a leader still urges the permanent closure of the Disarmament Conference, also the strengthening of the position of France, whose available recruits, owing to fewer births ta wartime, will fall from 240,000 to 150.000 ta 1935. and 100,000 ta 1936. “The Daily Mail” adds: “Francs should construct impenetrable fortifications from the Belgian frontier to the Alps, Increase her air fleet, while a defensive Anglo-French alliance might supersede the Locarno Pact. After this, Britain and France would extend the hand of friendship to new Germany, whose claim to equal armaments should be conceded soon, since refusal of equality must Involve Anglo-French occupation of the Rhine.”
