THE JAPANESE MENACE.
To the Editor of “ The Ttmaru Herald “ Sir, —“New Zealander,” writing in your columns, has hit the right nail on the head. Are we so blind that we cannot see our own danger? I tell you it is madness to put off any longer. We all know what Germany did, and will very likely do so again. Now, sir, if Germany was to start another World War, like she Is very likely trying to do, New Zealand and Australia would be the first to offer their service, like they did in the late war. Japan would stand out of it, and wait her chance. When she saw the oversea Dominions had no men left, she would merely have to walk in, and grab the whole lot, without meeting any fighting to speak of. Even if there is no war with Germany, Japan will try and get New Zealand and Australia, sooner or later. Are we to be caught twice like we were in the late war? Is New Zealand nothing to us? If it is, then there is no time for delay.—l am, etc., RICHARD BARRON. Timaru, October 18.
