STIMULATION OF BUSINESS. As a result of a public meeting held under the auspices of the New Zealand Legion on October 10. « successful meeting of the committee set up, consisting of representatives of local bodies, wholesalers and retailers, was held last night Dr W. R. Fea was voted to the chair and there were present Councillors J. R. Hart and W. G Tweedv, Messrs A P Greenfield. G. H. Andrews. K. Porter. F. Marriott. H. Clark. W J Priest. W. H Foden, E. G. | Cliffen, J McCort. T. Rose. F. G. Holland. J Childs. R Lee. G. Johnston, A S. Kinsman. A. H. Toynbee. R. H. Hill. E. Howden and H. B. Naylor The chairman gave an exhaustive description of the plan, which it was felt if put into operation, would be of great benefit in giving immediate relief j to the unemployed, and stimulate business in the town. At the conclusion of the address numerous questions were asked and answered and the plan discussed from ; various angles. On the motion of Mr G. H. Andrews, seconded by Mr A. S. Kinsman, it was decided that the committee meet again on October 31, members to discuss the scheme with others in their line of business in the meantime. A vote of thanks was accorded the chairman on the motion of Mr E. Porter.
