TIMARU SHOW
DISPLAY OF WOOLLEN MATERIALS One of the many attractions promised for the 1933 show of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association, to be held on October 25 and 26, is a display of woollen manufactures from the Timaru mills which were recently re-started after a period of idleness. This exhibition should serve to show the value of this important secondary industry to the town, which since its revival has provided employment for 40 persons with the prospect of another increase in the staff shortly. The display will include samples of tweeds and suitings, a feature in this section being Harris and Donegal tweeds suitable for sports clothing, costume cloths and dress tweeds, blankets, flannels and rugs. Arrangements have been made for a demonstration of the different processes through which the wool passes during manufacture, the company especially desiring to show the farmer samples of dirty wool which, if properly prepared, would be much easier to mill and more remunerative to the grower. This should afford farmers a good opportunity of becoming more conversant with milling needs. The show this year is expected to be one of the most interesting in the history of the Association. The entries in all sections are most encouraging and public patronage should be fully warranted.
