GREETINGS FROM POPE
PAPAL LEGATE REACHES AUSTRALIA. Onlted press Association—By Electrlo Telegr- ph—Copyright (Received October 17, 8.40 p.m.) FREMANTLE, October 17. Among the passengers to arrive by the Orontes was the new Papal Legate, Archbishop Bernadine, who brought a special message of greeting from the Pope to the Catholics of Australia. A large gathering of school children, carrying appropriate banners, gathered at the ship's side to welcome him. Archbishop Bernadine in an interview said; “I shall be very happy in Australia where there is full religious freedom, which seem to be the privilege of the ordinances of the British Empire, and where the relations between the various creeds are more cordial than elsewhere.”
