AEROPLANE SMASH IN RABAUL
MRS G. MIRFIELD KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Association GISBORNE, October 17. Mr and Mrs Graham Mirfield, who were injured and killed respectively In an aeroplane accident at Rabaul on Monday, visited Gisborne on their honeymoon early in the present year, the bridegroom being a son of a local architect. Mrs Mirfield was the daughter of a well known Rabaul trader and possessed a sparkling personality, which won immediate popularity among a wide circle of her husband's friends. Mr Graham Mirfield went to Rabaul as engineer in the employ of Messrs Carpenters, Ltd., later becoming manager of the firm's factories. He recently took up land. Mr Graham Mirfield attended the Timaru Boys High School and was at one time assistant engineer to the Gisborne Harbour Board, from where he subsequently went to Rabaul. He Is a nephew of Mrs John Holdgate, (imam, and a grandson of the late Mr Robert Wood.
