THE HOUSE
WORK FOR THE WEEK. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 16. To-morrow the House will deal with Government Bills which, with the possible exception of the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies’ Amendment Bill, should not take much time. This Bill seeks to widen the power of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations in dealing with undesirable showmen and from the opposition met with during the second reading it may be modified during the committee stage. The Minister of Finance, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, hopes to introduce the long awaited Companies Bill some time during to-day's sitting. It contains 384 clauses consolidating the principal Act of 1908 and Its amendments. One of the major divergences from the present Act is. it is understood. the imposition of severe restrictions on the hawking of shares. It is the object of the Bill to bring New Zealand Company law Into line with English law. and the British Act of 1929 has been followed as closely as possible. The restriction on the hawking of shares is believed to amount almost to the prohibition of the practice, and is certain to be one of the most Interesting clauses in the Bill. The stricter regulation of the auditing of company accounts forms the basis of another clause. The commercial community is eagerly awaiting the appearance of the Bill which has been Anally considered by the Cabinet. Wednesday and Thursday are set aside for the Introduction of Private Members' Bills, but the keenly awaited Reserve Bank Bill will probably be Introduced on Thursday. The Budget and departmental estimates are expected to be presented I next week.
