MAMOS BEATS MEESKE. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, October 16. At the Town Hall this evening, Mamos beat Meeske by two falls to one. The contest was unimpressive. At the end of the seventh round the pair indulged in fisticuffs. Meeske was knocked down several times with back handed slaps on the jaw. Helpless and apparently groggy he was then thrown about the ring with headlocks until Mamos brought the exhibition to a close with a cross buttock and press. WALKER DEFEATED. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. October 16. George Walker was defeated by Hal Rumberg (America in a contest here to-night before a crowded house. The decision was on points after each had secured a fall. Rumberg took a fall in the fourth and Walker in the sixth. Rumberg. with an early points lead, endured severe punishment in the final round. The bout was very severe and fast.
